Riding the friendly Georgian horses is something you have to experience while being in Georgia. Ride through deep forests, along small rivers and beautiful lush hillsides.  There is nothing like enjoying the sunshine and shadows in the vast forest area and being at one with your horse, loving the ride. Sitting up high on the back of your horse is one of the greatest ways to appreciate the mountains and the stunning views. Our horse-riding tour in Lagodekhi National Park offers you a majestic adventure in the protected, unspoiled nature. At first, we depart from Tbilisi to Signagi , a city of love, where we take a walking tour around the small town. Afterwards, we are travelling further east to the Lagodekhi National Park near Matsimi village. Here we discover our horses and start our adventure. After  hours riding, we are heading back to Tbilisi. Lagodekhi horse riding is one of the best tours in Georgia country for nature and adventure lovers. 

Itinerary:

Tbilisi- Signagi  

  • After breakfast, we depart to eastern region of Georgia – Kakheti. Here lies Signagi town a pearl of Kakheti. It is also known as a “city of love” which offers visitors lovely streets, houses with marvellious wooden balconies, a chance to walk over the defensive wall (18th c).

Signagi – Lagodekhi National Park

  • Travel to the oldest protected area in the Caucasus region in Lagodekhi and explore a unique flora and fauna of the protected areas. The National park is located in north-eastern Georgia on the border on Azerbaijan and Russia. Total area of protected territories comprise 19,749 hectares.

Matsimi Horse riding Trip – total distance of the trail is 10.5 km, takes 4 hours and the technical difficulty is average.

  • We will take a route which heads to the BneliKheobaRiver (dark gorge). The path here goes into the deep forests, a kingdom of fallen leaves, moss on the stones and flowers. Afterwards, we follow upstream the river, pass sand banks of the river and reach a mediaeval fortress. The Machi fortress was built in the mediaeval age. Todays in ruins, it still amazes visitors by its walls and ruins of the church.

Lagodekhi – Tbilisi

  •  We finish our horse riding trip near Machi fortress and then head back to Tbilisi.

 

Additional Information:

  • This horse riding tour can be conducted throughout the year but the best period of it is Spring and Autumn. This tour is for everyone but participants should be in good physical condition and must be able to mount a horse with little assistance. It is recommended that you have some experience in handling horses. The tour can be combined with general Cultural tour of Kakheti.
