OFF-SEASON HIKING TOUR IN GEORGIA

Georgia is a wonderland of cultural discovery and phenomenal high mountain trekking, truly a nature lovers’ paradise in summer. However, if you are visiting Georgia outside of summer, do not be regret, you can still hike in Georgia. Our 4-Day Off-Season Hike Tour will give you an opportunity to do moderate hiking in both Greater and Lesser Caucasus Mountains.  This trip offers adventurous visitors the opportunity to experience hiking in truly astonishing mountainous Caucasus..

Itinerary:

Day 1: Tbilisi-Samshvilde-Tbilisi

Walking Distance 16 km, Elevation Gain 662, Breakfast and Lunchboxes, Driving Distance 120 km, 2,5 Hours

  • In the morning, we will travel to the South of Tbilisi by 60 km, and stop at Samshvilde village, from where we start hiking. The hiking is easy, first follows a forest trail, but then it descends into the canyons where it gets a bit tricky, but nothing too much. This day is ideal for warming up for more serious hiking for the next few days. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 2: Tbilisi-Ananuri-Kazbegi-Gergeti Trinity Church-Gveleti Waterfalls-Kazbegi

Walking Distance 7 km, 2 Hours, starting elevation 1700, ending elevation 2200, 500 m up & down,  BB: Breakfast, Driving Distance 390 km, 6 Hours

  • Travel along the Great Caucasus Mountains. Visit Anunuri Castle Complex – a medieval architectural complex unites two churches, several towers, and defense walls. Beautiful frescos, facades, and views over the Jinvali reservoir make a beginning a journey as a fairy-tale.  Then drive to Gudauri which is a famous winter resort is surrounded by Great Caucasus mountain peaks. Stop at the Panorama view site and take a breath and photos in the green mountains. After it, we drive to Kazbegi and start hiking to Gergeti Trinity Church. The church was built in the XIV century, while its separate bell tower was constructed after several years. Gergeti Trinity church is located on the 2200 meters from sea level, right below the summit of Mt Kazbegi and above the small town of Stepantsminda.  The trail is relatively easy, but some parts can be quite difficult.  After the church, if time allows us, we will also visit  Gveleti Waterfalls  which are located in the granite cliffs of Dariali gorge, two waterfalls offer visitors clean and refreshing water and roaring environment. Day 3: Tbilisi-Borjomi-Likani (by car)- Likani Guard Station-Lomisma touristic shelter

Walking Distance 14 km, Difficult, Starting Elevation 800 m, final elevation 1880 m, FB: Breakfast, Lunchboxes, and Camping Dinner Driving Distance 160 km, 2,5 Hours.

  • This trip is a must-do for all-mountain hiking enthusiasts who love forests and enjoyment with nature and want to hike in Georgia.  This hiking tour will lead you into the heart of Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. The park is in the central part of Georgia and covers 85,083 ha of the land. At first, we are traveling to Borjomi city from Tbilisi. After registration, our hiking trip starts at Likani guard station (930 m.). We are passing the Likani River valley where visitors come across rare species included in the Red List of Georgia. Afterward, we are going up and reach to the tourist shelter of Lomismta. Overnight in the wooden cottage.

Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park

Day 4: Lomismta – Likani – Tbilisi

Walking Distance 15 km, Moderate, Starting Elevation 1880, final elevation  800 m, HB: Breakfast,  & Lunch boxes, Driving Distance 160 km, 2,5 Hours.

  • In the morning, we hike to St George Church which is located on Lomismta.  After exploring surrounding hills of Lomi Mountain, we are heading back to the Lomismta shelter and then going back to Likani, and eventually to Tbilisi.
